need help car is smoking when driving

Default need help car is smoking when driving

hi im new to the porsche community. i just bought a porsche carrera its a 1999 with 54000.
i was driving it recently on the freeway and out of know were white smoke was coming out so i pulled over and the smoke was coming out of the exhaust it starts right up but smoke continues to come out and disappears and comes out again.. any ideas what it could be?

My guess is a bad oil air separator.

thanks for the quick reply i hope its minor and not to bad like what ive been reading and hearing around sush as ths shaft failure

If it was an IMSF, then the motor would have a loud ticking. The OAS is about $100-150 plus maybe a few hours to install it.

it tick or click at a start up or low idle but when driving or high rpms you dont hear it also when start the oil pressure goe up high and after a while of driving it drops between 1 and 2 on the bar.. thanks for the info i appreciate it

ok so i just got off the phone with my mechanic and he said their maybe a cracked or broken gasket. and that coolant is mixing in with the oil and that maybe causing all the smoke. im just wondering what am i looking at price wise if its a gasket.. he is going to run more test and call me tomarrow.
