1989 944S2
hello,
my name is paul and i have a 1989 944 S2, a couple of years ago the car would stall out while driving at various speeds, but it would start again immediately. one mechanic gave up after not being able to duplicate the problem, the second mechanic nearly gave up, but i was persistent and he changed the fuel pump + relay and the problem was solved, until now. a month ago the car first started hestitating in low gear while driving, and now it is stalling out, but will start again immediately.this is what the mechanic wrote down for me to post:
-- loss of power,lack of fuel(at times)
--hesitation at times or it runs great
--new fuel pumps + relay, new ECM relay crank sensor, air flow sensor(meter)
--spray cleaner in intake and it will run.(if problem occurs)
i would really appreciate if any other 944 S2 owners have faced this problem, my mechanic is at wits end and dont know what to do next.
thanks

RE: 1989 944S2
I would start with the ignition control unit, but could also be the TPS sensor, could be the relay again (they are notorious for going out, always carry a spare), could be a faulty DME itself. There are a lot of things to check, I would assume your mechanic really has no experience with the 944 line? Tell him to go through the factory manuals and start testing the various control units.
