2001 911 conv w/ problems
just purchased my first porsche last week (01 911 carrera cabriolet, 33k miles), and it's got some issues. here they are-
after a good rain a few days ago, i noticed a wet area beneath the drivers side carpet -- is this common with convertibles?
the other issue is the auto anti-glare rearview mirror not working - LED light doesn't come on.
any thoughts? please enlighten me.
Thanks much-

Well congrats. Whether you consider leaks "normal" ona convertible depends, I guess, on your expectations - I do expect them, even on Porsches, but it is disappointing all the same. Make certain, however, that it is in fact coming in around the windows or top and not through the cowl or around the doors.
As to the rear view mirror. I do not have that feature on my car and in fact have not liked it on past cars. If you cannot easily get it to work (maybe its a disocnnected wire, etc.) I'd just replace it with a standard mirror.

Hi.
In my opinion, yes leaks are very common with convertibles of any make. My fiance has a 2003 Jaguar xk8 Roadster that had only 18000 miles when he got it and it's had a problem with a leak on the passenger side. It's been through the shop and hopefully been fixed but I don't know for sure because we haven't had it out at all this winter. Anyway, I know you expect a lot more from 80 and 90 thousand dollar cars but truthfully, they're just as prone to that stuff.
What the other poster said about identifying exactly WHERE the leak is coming from is a good point.
I hope you can get it figured out because the last thing you want is to have a car that smells like mildew.
