Cayman S looking better than the 911 Carrera S
#2
Both can look quite nice. I think the big advantage to both is that, as Porsches, the design details are nicely thought out and executed very well. Both are attractive vehicles, but I don't consider either truly beautiful and I doubt many people buy them for their looks -- as long as they aren't ugly, I think that is enough.
By contrast, I bought my Aston Margin, which is actually slower than a Carrera S, not to mention the GT3 or turbo I could have bought for a bit less) because it is simply the most beautiful car made anywhere, in my opinion. I haven't regreted it, by the way: once a car is fast enough more speed is irrelevant, and it is sort of nice to have the beauty all the time.
Anyway, the Carrera is a by now classic, purposeful look, but it is frankly a bit short and stubby looking. The Cayman shape is definately the sleeker and more modern, but I don't love the shape of the rear fenders (their highest point is way too far back to please my eye) and I just keep wishing it looked a bit more like a mid 50s Carrera or a 904 (my favorite Porsche shape).

That is a tough call. I think both are good looking cars, but having a 951 track car, I really like the hatchback look of the cayman. Now if they would actually shove a 4cyl turbo (that you could get some decent aftermarket power out of) in it instead of just talking about it, i'd be all over it.
