Radar Detector
The most recent "consumer review" of radar detectors I could find on-line was September 2005. They said Escort Passport 8500 X50 and Bel Pro RX65 were neck and neck beating out the Valentine One.
As a practical matter, is there significant technology differentiation? Opinions?
Thanks,
Michael

RE: Radar Detector
The escort is a great radar detector for the money. The V1 is nice, and the arrows are a great option, but it falses so much, that you won't ever get a ticket because you will always be slowing down for nothing.

RE: Radar Detector
I prefer a hidden install to a dash or windshield mount There is a lot of passion out there. some people are crazy for the V1's. I have been very happy with the new Calibre Buletooth K40. I had it installed on two cars and I like the results.

RE: Radar Detector
I have a Valantine 1,four battery powered Escorts and one plug-in Escort. I frankly cannot tell much difference between them.
I like the Valentine 1 because of the arrows and do not have the problem of many false alerts. I used in in NJ and now in Florida. It can be programmed for the type of area you live in. It seems to work well when set up.
I bought the battery Escort so i would not have cords hanging down from the windsheild and they are easy to move from car to car. The plug in Escort is so old comparisons are not valid although it still works well.
If cords do not bother me I vote for Valantine.
Just my humble 2 cents.

RE: Radar Detector
I have used a passsport for about a year and it has saved me plenty of times. I've used a bell tronics before and the passport busts radar much further ahead which gives you more time to slow down. I just had the K40 installed and will update you when i have tested it.

The V1 you will throw out within a few days because it is louder then your stereo and goes off all the time, it is big and not very appealling inside your car. I would definately go with an installed radar and the only company that has two radar recievers to give you the best protection is the K40 system. You wont even know it's there until it gives you an alert. Check out www.k40.com to review all of there products. I have had one of there systems since 94 and I currently have there Calibre radar. Top notch
