Rear Brakes
Hello,
Is it true that Porsche Does Not Recommend Machining Brake Discs? I was Told that the Brakes Should Be Replaced rather then Machined. I Had my Rear Brakes Machined 5000 miles ago and Now I feel a Pulseating when I Apply the Brakes. The Mechanic Suggested I need New Rear Discs and Pad Set. Should My Brakes have Failed with only 5000 miles Of Wear? Has Anyone Else Experienced this situation?
Thank You
Steve

RE: Rear Brakes
Your brakes do not have 5000 miles of wear if they have been machined, lol. Machining the rotors does not give you a new rotor to work with, it gets you a couple more thousand miles of time. Typically when you machine a rotor, they will warp again (and easier than on a fully thick rotor), which is what it sounds like. Get new rotors and problem should be solved.

Do what the factory says, you can trust them. Turning the rotors wopn't get you enough miles to really make it worth the labor and cost, and you can comfort yourself with the knowledge that the old rotors will be recycled.

yup, me has the same experienced, you should never doubt... it's for the good of your car...me, i had replaced my brakes especially the saturn brake pads... a single defect in your brakes might cause serious damages to your automobile, you will notice if your brakes comes to its end if you hear a grinding sound upon stepping the pedal. good thing to replace it....!
