Default Tires for 996 Street and Track

Group, looking for some insite regarding tires. I have a 2000 996 Aero and I want to do some track driving next season. The tires on my car will make it until then. This car is a toy, not a daily driver so I'm not that worried about longterm mileage. Any comments?

Perilli P zero's are a great tire for the track and road driving. Similar to the pilot sports, but hook up a lot better when cold.

I agree about the Pirellis. I had a set of 4 275x18s on my son's Camaro street racer, and all four had treat separation at between 24 and 25 K miles. Known of them threw a belt-- we caught the first two on separate weekend inspections of the car before track day, then pulled the other two off after the second tire was found bad and found splits in the belt-sidewall on the inside.

They were otherwise good tires, and had about 8K miles of useable trend left at 25K miles, so they wore well, but . . . .
