Default Too good to be true?

(Semi long post, but please help :P )

Hey everyone, just came here trying to find some help for my Mom... I myself own classic Mustangs and don't know much about Porsches, so excuse my ignorance.

She was looking at selling her current car and buying the Cayenne Turbo until she came across the Targa (993 I believe). For some reason she really loved the older models, such as 96-97. So one day as I picked up my 72' mach 1 from the shop, the owner told me that he had a 1997 Porsche Targa for sale. 45k miles, completely rebuilt 3.6 litre engine (the original), automatic/tiptronic, A/c, power everything, etc etc. He told me 30 thousand, which sounded like a good deal. I went on line and saw that the same car with equal miles was going for 40-45k!!

He didn't bother trying to sell the car online or anything, and none of his Mustang loving costumers were interested. So now he's saying 23k... The interior needs about 1k work, but everything else is great. So 24k for a great driving, 1997 993 targa. Good deal? Am I just misinformed and they sell for this much? Is there something wrong with the car I should be searching for?

Thanks in advance.

well why was the engine rebuilt with only 45k? Sounds like it was beat. Take it to a porsche dealer have them look it over and if it checks out go for it.
