1988 911 carrera trouble shifting-please help
Hi Everyone-Wondered if you can help me figure this one out.
I was driving my 88 911 Carrera last Sunday and adjusting the power seat. Car was running fine. Got to a stop sign and couldn't get it into gear. I finally did find the gears, but everything felt strange. Can't get it in reverse at all. Turned around to get home and smelled something like a burnt up vacuum cleaner belt(I'm assuming something is wrong with a belt). Also when I do get the car in gear, the shifter is not "locked" in that gear, it still moves sideways(feels like it is in neutral). Just wanted to try to get some info before she goes to the mechanic.
Thank You
