2002 996 Turbo no-start!!
Hey Guys, got a question (trouble shooting of some sorts). If you could help me out that would be great. Moderators, if this is in the wrong forum, please move (sorry)
So here goes;
My 911 Turbo has been sitting in the garage for the last 4 months, never started or ran. I go out last week to try to fire it up and nothing[:@]. No light's, no dashboard light's, nothing. I know it goes into sleep mode if you don't run it in a month or so, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I figured the battery is toast by now anyway, which is not my concern (knowing the Porsche batteries are good for boat anchors and that’s about it). here's a list of stuff I've already tried doing;
Checked all the fuses, all good
I tried popping the hood with the mechanism in the fuse box, but to no avail.
Plugged a battery pack into the cigarette lighter to try to get some juice to it.
Put a solar power panel in the cigarette lighter for a couple of days, no go.[/ul]
I got power for a split second two days ago and then dead again (not enough time to pop the hood). Was thinking of going underneath and putting the charger on the starter lead. Any thought's on that??
Were I live for the last 3 weeks or so it has been minus 12-15 Celsius (around 0 Fereinheight), which probably could contribute to my dilemma!!
Any ideas?? Thought’s?? Would be greatly appreiciated
Thanks

Your battery is just dead as you suspect. How are you applying power to the fuse panel (ie, with what source?) You will have to have a good connection with 12v power, or you aren't going to have enough juice to pop the hood with the battery being so dead.
If you are going to let the car sit for that length of time, you really should plug in a battery maintainer on the battery to keep it from draining. Once they drain and sit dead, they are toast. I would replace it with a battery from your local parts store, any Group 48 battery will do.
