Default 944 running hot

My 944 non-turbo is running hot. It is an '85.5. The had to replace the motor with an '87. Both engines were equipped for air cond., but never worked. It only has one cooling fan. With the first motor, I never had a problem. All the mechanics tell me I need another cooling fan because of the air cond., even when I explain the other enginehad air, and never ran hot. I've replaced the temp sensor and thermostat, and also checked the sensor and fan motor per my Hayne's manual. I notice sometimes the fan doesn't come on at all. Maybe the temp sensor is not the samefor the different year engines, and it's NOT running hot, but turning my warning light on? I was going to just put a secondfan in, but I can't figure out why it never did it before.

Default RE: 944 running hot

if the coolant is too low in the radiator the sensor won't allow the fans to kick on. Does your car blow hot air? The heater core is the highest point in the cooling system, so you know.
