Default 993 Boost Controller Question

I have a 993TT with larger turbos and a Greddy electronic boost controller. Does anyone have a recommended setting for this controller? Right now it is set to wild. Turbo kicks in and spins all four wheels at 60mph. I would like the turbos to kick in slower..or more gradually..so it doesn't just break the wheels loose every time it gets on boost... I can modulate the throttle and it is more manageable, but the boost is still like flipping a switch. It's unbelievable, but I would like it to be more street-able.

Thanks!

Well you can turn down the boost, but you need to have a way to change the fuel settings so it is not running pig rich at WOT when you do so (obviously you will be pushing less boost, but the same amount of fuel). What boost level is the car set at currently?

Default Boost

I do not know where the boost is currently set. The paperwork that came with the car says 500hp@1bar. I read the instruction manual online for the controller, so I think I will be able to see what the current settings are. I read about Gain, do you think adjusting this will let the turbos boost come on slower without affecting the mixture? It also mentioned Boost Spike, but did not define it. I am not used to driving cars with this much power, airplanes yes, cars no. So I'm sure it is normal. It runs perfectly at all throttle settings, it just has more power than wheels can take in the first and second at anyting other than very partial throttle. Something tells me that WOT in 4th well into the triple digits is where it really shines. The shop that did the upgrade changed many things, all having to do with the turbos, including installing a reprogrammed ECU. The car is perfect just like it is...just thought it would be nice to have the option of dialing it back. Especially before my wife drives it

Well you can change the gain to increase the spool time, but you are still going to have to deal with fueling. The easy solution is the just modulate the throttle 500hp in a 993TT is really not a big deal, the cars handle it very well, you just can't stomp on the gas hard until you get use to the car.....which usually happens very quickly, lol.

Smile Modulate the throttle

You are 100% correct. I drove the car for a while yesterday (third day of ownership) and I am learning how to drive it.. I also own a 951 and a Ford Lightning. Driving the 993T is quite different. But it came together for me yesterday. I'm learning where the turbos kick and how much throttle I can use in each gear to keep it from going ballistic. I actually drove it like a normal car yesterday for the first time. Before it was more like a blowing up balloon and letting it go....just shooting all over the place! I did actually make it almost an hour on the drive home before getting pulled over by the cops.. he let me go

Thanks for your help Doc! I'm sure it won't be long before I'm asking how to get 600hp
