Buying and repairing a 2001 911 Turbo
I have the opportunity to buy a 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo. The car has 70,000 miles and needs a clutch, tune-up, and blows gray smoke at initial start up. Since I no virtually nothing about repairing a Porsche, what would be a fair price to pay for this car? The body and interior are in good condition. Also, what would it cost to repair this vehicle? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hard to say on the price.
Clutch is 17 hours of labor (book time), plus about $2000 in parts depending on which clutch setup you go with.
Gray smoke at startup is fairly normal, as long as it is brief.
Spark plugs is a 7 hour job (book time), plugs are around $12 each IIRC. Air filter is replaced in about a half hour, pollen filter in about a minute, oil change can vary greatly from place to place, but is 8.5 quarts of mobil 1, filter ($15), and 4 aluminum crush seals.
I think all the work is a cake walk, but I modify the cars for a living.
