Default defective fuel gauge on 996TT?

I have owned my '01 996TT for six months now. I noticed that everytime I fill up the gas tank,my fuel meternever reaches the very top. Rather, it only reaches the3/4 marker. I know the tank is full because thepump at the gas station automatically stopspumping when your tank is full.Could I possibly have a defective fuel gauge???

Silverbilt, It may not be your gauge asI'm able to squeeze another 2 -3 gallons of gas in my 2007 Targa 4after the nozzle shuts off.. It seems the tank is always short after the pump stops..My first fill up showed my tank at 3/4 full.. After that, I always manage to get it totally full with the gauge reading 4/4.

Very possible the fuel sending unit just needs to be calibrated. For the hours it takes to do so, I wouldn't bother until it gets off ALOT. It isn't as simple as hooking up the PIWIS and calibrating, there needs to be a specific amount of fuel in the tank to do so, which means removing all the fuel, and putting that amount in.

Thanks fellas for the feedback! I will try to squeeze in another 2-3 gallons as k2we suggested. Hopefully this will fix the problem. If not, then PorscheDoc could be right. Anyway, let's see what happens...
