fuel rail
I have an 85/1 NA 944, I have an 87 engine that I will install as soon as I get my balance shaft rear seal replaced. It has the 85/1 wiring harness and intake on it. The fuel lines for the 87 rail and the 85 are not the same. It the 87 rail better than the 85? I have read that it is improved. What is the best way to attach the fuel lines? (The 85 has a female connector on the fuel line , the 87 requires a male, also may need to be longer)

RE: fuel rail
Which connection are you talking about? I am trying to picture the early fuel rail in my head to no avail. My late fuel rail only has female connectors though, i don't know where there would be any male connector at. Any pictures?

RE: fuel rail
The 85/1 fuel rail has the reg and damper on the rear of the rail, it has a tube with a screw on connection going to the reg and a hose clamp connection for the return, on the 87 the reg is in the rear and the damper is in the front, the damper has a male fitting and my fuel line has a male fitting. Fuel line also comes from divers side. I could just add a fitting to change gender, but not sure line will reach, or if there is a better way.

RE: fuel rail
ah gotcha. I read that you needed a male connection on the fuel line end. Line should be female, with the damper being male. You may have to get some generic fuel line and build yourself a new line so it will not be stretched.
