Hard to shift when cold (944)
Help ... I have a 1985 1/2 Porsche 944 that is hard to shift into 2nd gear when the car is not warmed up (problem gets worse in the Fall when the temperature outside gets colder).Shifting into other gears is smooth and easy. My mechanic put in a new clutch and synchros and that seemed to help some ... next he tried thinner gear oil ... that helped a lot butit still does it. Any ideas?? Thanks!

What type of gear oil did he put in? He needs to put in either Swepco or Mobil 1 75w-90. This is a typical issue with the 944's.
Curious, how much did he charge to put in new synchros?

PorscheDoc ...
Thanks for the info ... I'm not sure which gear oilmy mechanicused but I will find out. Wish I would have known this is a common issue with 944's before he did the synchros!
My mechanic charged ~$2,000 for a new clutch and all new synchros (including labor) ... As I recall my local Porsche dealer wanted about twice that ....
Thanks again!
