Default 1984 trans stiff shifting

Hi, i have just aquired my 1st porsche and a nice one at that !! it's an 1984 targa 911 carrera 3.2 fi .its all most perfict and it only has 55,000 miles . my concern is that 1st & 2nd aer real stiff to get into 3,4,5 are smooth as can be there is no grinding or funny noise that i can tell my nabor has an 83- 914 with the ame issue and his has 114000 on it . so my question is??? is that common through that time period ?? is there a lube product that may releave some or all of this ?? and is there a place that i can perchase the fewnew rubber window guides an some other things to finish bringing this machine back to showroomquality . by the way this car wasgarage kept. thanks for your help in advance

Hi pc, welcome!
I have an 84 911 too and my shifts from 1st to 2nd seems normal, but it does tend to get a little sloppy at times at higher revs, probably more so causeit's the old 915 transmission. I would get it checked out, it shouldn't be stiff withso low mileage on your car!

thanks for the info i also need to find a trust !!!!!! worthy mech/ i my area cause my regular guy doesn't do porsche .

I would start by putting in some redline gear lube and see if that doesn't help. If the fluid hasn't been changed in a long time, it can resemble the consistency of caramel, which does not help the shifting at all.

I think this is the problem of thoughts in that year. This brings difference in the design of product from earlier to current version.
