Default 944 engine shutdown

This past weekend, during the heavest rain recently seen in southern California, my 1986 944 just suddenly shutdown on the HWY 5 freeway. After waiting about 1 hour for AAA tow, I tried again anit started up like normal and I continued on. In the almost 20 years I have owned this car it has never fail me like this circumstance. I continued on from Huntington Beach to San Diego and back without and additional problems. Of course it has been well maintained and serviced thus I first thought it must be wet weather related; however, it did continue to rain alone the way to San Diego- but maybe not as hard.

Any suggestions? Maybe fuel pump relay or ignition/computer ptoblem?

I would replace your DME relay and see if that doesnt solve it.

Thanks, I assume you mean the (DEE) Digital Engine Electronics control unit relay. That relay is in the fuse/relay housing box?

Porsche uses DME, or Digital Motronic Electronics.
