Just ordered a 2008 C2S
Basalt Black
Brown Natural Full Leather
Adaptive Sports Seats
Heated Seats
Sports Exhaust
Bose Sound System
Carrera Sport Wheels
Rear Center Console in Leather
Carpet in Deviating Color (black)
Instrument Dials in Black
Floor Mats
I have never owned a Porsche and had never even driven one before a test drive last week. My price limit was $100K. Before I decided on a 911 I considered:
1) Corvette Z06 - I tried to like this car but the interior screams Chevy. And I have a problem with paying $75K for a car that looks almost identical to a base model costing $40K. Great sounding engine though.
2) Dodge Viper - Too outrageous looking; I don't want a car that draws a crowd everywhere I park. If I bought the Corvette my neighbors would think I was having a mid-life crisis but if I bought the Viper they would think that I had lost my mind. Besides, with 600 hp and no traction control or stability control I would probably kill myself.
3) BMW M6 - Great engine, nice interior, but it's overweight and like all recent BMWs it's ugly. I'm not buying any more BMWs until they fire Chris Bangle.
4) MB SL550 - Very nice all around but no manual transmission available. Too heavy also.
It seems to me like there are no cars out there that compete directly with the Porsche 911.

RE: Just ordered a 2008 C2S
The dealer said that my build date was some time in June and I should get in in mid-July. I considered waiting for the 2009 model in the fall. I like minor changes that they are doing to the front end but I didn't want to wait that long and I'm sure that the price will go up significantly since the dollar exchange rate has gotten so bad.
The car I'm replacing is a 2005 Mini Cooper S, which is probably the most fun car you can get for under $25K.

RE: Just ordered a 2008 C2S
It has now been over 3 months since I ordered my 2008 911 S and I still don't have it!!! The wait is driving me *C*R*A*Z*Y* !!! It completed production a month ago but thenthe ship bringing it to the U.S. was delayed. The ship finally arrived a few days agoand now the dealer is telling me that a delay in getting the cars through U.S. customs is going to take another week. Hopefully I will finally get it next week. I'll post a picture when Iget it.
