Default Just sold my Jag looking for a Porsche!

Hey you guys how's it going. I'm sixteen years old and have just sold my 1990 Jaguar XJS V-12 Convertible with only 65,000 miles, which my dad purchased for me. I loved that car to death, however, the rapidly rising cost of fuel, especially premium, forced me to sell my baby. It got about 9-12 mpg, which isn't very practcal being only 16. Thus, I set out to find an economical, yet sporty and stylish vehicle that used regular unleaded. My search has now concluded with either a Porsche 924, or a 944. I want a red, late 80's manual transmission car with under 75,000 miles, and am looking to spend less than $4,500. I saw one like this on e-bay, a 1987 924, with 64,000 miles for $3,900, so I know that my search is not ridiculous, and the price bracket is not too low for what I want. I am going to wait until the end of the summer to purchase one, letting the money from the sale of my XJS and future earnings I shall make from my job sit in a bank account accumulating interest. I could spring for a mid-late 90'sboxster or an entry level 911 however, I would like to have surplus funds in preperation for college, so I must compromise. Any advice on what to look for in a 924 or 944, any known problems, general info, how they drive, performance, gas milage, reliability, etc. would be much appreciated. I have never even driven one, or seen one up close. I've been raised in a Jaguar family and that's all I've driven, and I am not familiar with the Porsche's whatsoever. I just saw one on ebay, realized I could get another exotic, for not so exotic a price, andone thatgets good gas milage as well. I shall check back in periodically with the 924, and 944 forums to learn more about the modelsand consult them on potential purchases as the time comes.

Thanks in advance for all the help,
Brandon
