New Member and 911 Owner who waited 48 years to purchase a 911
Good morning from sunny and hot, and I mean very hot, Northern California. I am quite pleased to be a new junior member of GAF-Porsche Forum since I probably would not have done so had I not bought a 2000 911 Carrera a few months ago. I do find it mildly amusing to be referred to as a "junior" considering I put the sixty years-old road mile marker to my six o'clock last September. I don't look a day over 59 though, and the salesman told me when I got in my car for the first time a few months back that I looked 20 years younger. I believed him for about a half an hour when, while taking a picture of my car with my phone, I accidently hit the button that changes the camera from front facing to rear. Suddenly my screen was filled with a close up of a face that had been born when television was in its infancy, when CBS, NBC, and ABC were the only choices of channels, and when a 1954 356 Speedster was rated at 46 bhp, weighed 1670 pounds, and listed top speed was 87 mph. If you are lucky enough to own or occasionally see a '54 356, and, been unfortunate enough to somehow have seen the image I saw on my phone screen a few months ago, it would be obvious that I would be the one most in need of a frame up restoration.
My first question to members at large is what was the retail selling price of a new 2000 911 Carrera?
