Default Next Turbo - if exhaust sound is better

Greetings all! I am currently driving a 2004 C4S, having just sold a beautiful 1964 356 C Cabriolet. Thinking about the next Turbo sometime in 2009, but have been quite surprised by the wimpy sound of 996 and 997 Turbo's I have heard in my neighborhood. Sound is like a Honda Civic! My C4S has the sports exhaust, and sounds terrific! Any observations on fixes for this would be welcome. Thanks!

There are plenty of sports/performance exhausts out there. I always say if you don't like the sound--change it. I disagree that is sounds like a Hinda Civic.

A Honda Civic?? Common. There are plenty of sports/performance exhausts on the market.

I've got a fabspeed maxflo on my 04 Turbo. I can tell you that my stock exhaust didn't sound anything like a fricken Honda Civic. [sm=boosign.gif]

I agree [sm=exactly.gif]the standard turbo is nothing like a Honda Civic. Except if you are deaf.[sm=helpout.gif]

OK, I guess I've been told! Thanks for the input. I do love the nice gurgle and bark of my C4S with Sport Exhaust, and simply wondered why an out-of-the box Turbo shouldn't sound at least as good. If it takes an aftermarket changeout to get satisfaction, what's the recommendation?

HOT911TT HAVE YOU COMPARED THE FABSPEED TO ANY OTHERS? HOW MUCH BETTER DOES IT SOUND THEN WHEN YOUR CAR WAS STOCK? YOUR CAR TIPTRONIC?

I've got a 6 speed. The Fabspeed maxflow has a nice deep sound, but has the GT2 hum at high RPMs. I run my Turbo at the track a lot and fellow Porsche owners tell me it sounds a lot like a GT2

I installed the Fabspeed Maxflow about 6 months ago and the sound was noticeably different with a noticeable power boost. It's a great exhaust system. You'll love it.

As I'm based in the UK, I cannot comment too much on the range of US Brands but there is an ad running in Total 911 Magazine for "GMG Racing" in the USA. I dont know what they sound like but they make the car look as though its doing 10mph when standing still!
