Biodiesel Dork buys a 944 Turbo
Hey All:
I had a chance to buy a 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo and took it. The car is in perfect shape. I'm just trying to get used to a car that does a wheelie when I step on it and doesn't smell like KFC.
The person I bought the car kept mentioning the car has a "Autothority Stage II chip".
I can easily bore the hardened tree hugger on the different ways of making Biodiesl, but this 944 is making me thinking about giving up Cetane.
Could any one explain to me what the chip is doing for the car?
Let me know.
Thanks.

You are probably putting down about 220-230 to the wheels if you are not running a catalytic converter. Figure a 12-15% drive train loss, puts you in that 260hp at the engine range. If you are running a cat, then figure 20hp less or so.
