Default How much does it cost to maintain a 944?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post. I am new to Porsche's and to this forum. Ive read that maintenance is very expensive for Porsche's, but Ive never heard how much more expensive it is. Is it 2 or 3 times more to repair than an average car? I am looking into buying a Porsche 944. Thank you in advance for your reply.

Depends on the car you buy. The best advice I can give you is to buy the nicest example that you can find from an owner who has a LOT of receipts for the car. Once you find a good example, expect roughly $1000 (doing most of the work yourself) a year to keep it on the road. If you buy a cheap car that needs a lot of work, you can spend well over $5-6k in repairs your first year. I rebuilt a car for a customer this year that paid $500 for the car because he thought it was a good deal. $15k later, we had something that was running and safe for the road.

Thanks. Is there anything specific that I should look for in a 944?

You want to make sure there are records for recent clutch and timing belt/waterpump service specifically.
