Default 2002 smoking exhaust under acceleration

2002 carrera 78000 KM on it. Just went for a2 miles ride. On the way back, under hard accelerationin 3rd gear it smoked from the exhaust for 500 feet or so, real heavy smoke. I let go the gas a few seconds, and smoke a bit again when I pushed the gas again, then itstopped smoking.
Had the car since last year, purchased at 72000 KM, I do accelerate hard often but it never did this before.
Should I worry?
Once in a while, on cold start up it will puff some smoke for 10 seconds or so. That, I never worried about.
Thanks

The car will smoke under hard acceleration, especially after a hard shift. Excess fuel gets dumped into the cylinders during a shift, then gets burnt out thereafter. It is also possible that you have a bad injector.

If the smoke was white, then you probably have a bad oil seperator, and should have the car looked at.

The smoke was white indeed, anda lot of it for that 500 feet.
Just went for another spin. On cold start it smoked for 30 seconds but once on the road, everything was back to normal, even under hard acceleration.
So far the smoke thing was a one of.
Could the separator be an on/off problem. Where can I read about that separator.
I did not know about this feature on the car.
I assume there is no risk to the engine anyway, so i`ll keep driving it and monitor.
The dealer in my case is 400 miles away.

Hopefully you don't have a cylinder lining slipping. That is another cause of white smoke. Engine would need to be replaced. I would get the car looked at.

Did some more search.
Oil level was on the high side, accelerated hard but also made a sharp turn left while accelerating 1st gear, just before it smoked in 3rd gear.
The next two times I took the car it smoked on cold start 30 seconds.
Since then zero problem whatsoever.

Found on another forum other guys saying it is typical with all the above conditions present.

In addition I can say it was smoking much more from drivers side exhaust on the following two cold starts.
Hope it helps somebody else.
I canceled my air oil separator order for now.
