Default 996tt mods nightmare

I took a mint condition 996tt w/17000 mi and after a thousand miles I thought it would be fun to modify it. Went with k-24 turbos, k-24 giac ecu, max speed x-50 header/exhaust, billet diverter vlv, evo v-flow intake, upgraded intercooler piping and complete tune up. After a few hundred miles ive got check engine light, air bag light, rear spoiler light and now it sputters when I step on it in 2nd and3rd gears right about 4500 rpm's(didnt even bother to go to higher gears) Did I get the work done at the wrong shop? (rsspeed motorwork, Glendale Ca.) wrong setup? Does anyone know of a good shop around Bakersfield. ca.? Heartbroken and disapointed any suggestions

I would suspect that the Engine Check Light is reflecting a MAFS issue ie the Mass Air Flow Sensor. This could be contamination from your new Air Filter (especially if its an oiled one), or it could be a kick back from one or more of the 4xOxygen Sensorsin the Exhaust System. (ie might have been affected by removal etc)
At this stage I would be tempted to take it to an Official Porsche Centre, and get them to do the Diagnostics on your faults for you.
Once you know the faults you will have the evidence for the Mods Dealer, to get them to put the things right if it is a direct result of their work.
Best I can offer. Regards Big Bob

Thanks once again Big Bob for the great advise, Im going to takeit to the dealer Tuesday to see about the codes. But tell me in your exprience if the sensors were working fine prior to the modification what would a new oxygen and maf sensor do now? Is there an special type use for modified porsches or will I expect the same results in a few hundred miles again? best regards-Walt

If say the new air filter was the oiled type, then small amounts of the oil will contaminate the "sensor wires" in the MAFS, and give you a fail because resistance etc changes. The Sensor might just need cleaning rather than replacing. I had this problem on my own car.
For the 4 Oxygen Sensors, they are not always easy to get out of the old exhaust system, so in removing them and then putting them into the new Exhaustmay have "upset" one or more of the Sensors. This too happened on my car.
Anyway good luck. Once you have the result you are in a stronger position with the Modifying Dealer to put things right if it can be attributed to his work etc.

Did you bump the rev limiter when accelerating? The MAF will blow due to too much airflow from the Vflow intake if you accidently bump the engine off the rev limiter when accelerating.

Also if the evo intake has an oiled filter (like a K&N) it needs to be blown out with brake clean to remove a lot of the oil. The oil in a K&N will contaminate the MAF and ruin it. Sometimes evo includes a dry filter, and sometimes an oiled filter. The dry filter is much better.

Thanks Doc, I took it back to the shop today, will request the dry filter. (Why don't you open up a shop in So. Cal. there is alot more porsches here then anywhere in the world!)
