Default Battery Charger

Unfortunately, I don't drive my Carrera enough to keep the battery fully charged. Have any of you had experience with the charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter? Are there other, non-Porsche products that work as well or better? Thanks.

I would get an actual battery tender that hooks up to your battery. It utilizes a quick disconnect plug, so you can just unplug it and go, so it is nice as far as that goes. Even with a battery tender, you still need to drive the car a couple times a month to keep the charging system healthy.

Does this suggest that the ones that work through the cigarette lighter are not as good? If they are, it would seem to be easier than installing something on the battery. What do you think?

Yeah, the doctor is right, the ones that plug into the power outlet will not work as well as a good battery tricle charger with a float feature. I have one I rigged up for my vette since it sits for long periods (2--3 weeks) without running.
