I am new to the porsche thing and new to the forum. I want to buy a 911 and restore it.
I want a 911 targa
I want one between 1975-1987
which one would you recommend, which one has the best overall engine and which one can take the most performance parts and what are the difference on the bodys of the cars as in bumpers, lights ect.

RE: buying a 911
My favorite was the 1979 911SC Targa, mine was Petroleum Blue with a Cork interior, they have a 3.0l bullet proof engine(I put over 200,000 miles on my engine before it was rebuilt), a decent 915 gearbox (mine had a 7:31 ring gear & cooler) and they're easy to work on when compared to the new generation 911's.
The market is a bit soft on these cars (70's Targa's) so you should be able to find one at a good price, Good hunting.
