Default Can we put a 901 in 911 category?

I think it was 2013 or maybe even 2012 I went to the Coronado vintage races where there was a white 911 shaped car that had a 901 badge on the tail and a big sign about the car and how Porsche originally called them 901 before getting in the name fight with Peugeot. Today I found a picture of a 901 at the event in 2013,

which says it is Dean Watts' car. But I don't recall if the one I saw had fog lamps in front but how many white 901s could there be? Anyway is that car written up anywhere so I can find out if it was imported privately to America before Porsche began selling 911 cars in the U.S. Was it ever a real bargain because people answering ads didn't know what a 901 was? Or did Porsche USA sell it with a 911 badge and it took some digging for the owner to find out it was really a 901? Any opinions appreciated.
