Default CarMax...?

I'm looking at a 05 Carrera on CarMax (located in Tampa...I'm in Jax). Obviously I would prefer to purchase a car from Brumos in Jax, however, at the moment Brumos doesn't have anything that is really interesting me.

Most people seem to be pretty happy with CarMax and they seem to have a pretty good reputation (considering their inspection process, warranty, and extended care programs). I'm just wondering what people think of buying a Porsche through CarMax. Does anyone have any experience? Of course, a PPI from a Porsche dealer will be desireable... Will CarMax ship the car to Jacksonville and allow me to take it to Brumos for an inspection with the potential that is might get turned down?

Any thoughts?

After employing several former Carmax techs, I would probably pass on buying a car from carmax, at least a high dollar car. Not that they were bad techs or anything (they were all fairly good), but the stories they told about the process up there on the other hand.....

If you could get a good PPI done on it somehow, you could buy with confidence. Otherwise I think I'd pass, like Doc says. CarMax is geared up to sell Camrys and Malibus by the bucket full. Porsches -- not their thing.

Good point... I was thinking that way the same. I def would want a PPI. Maybe I should go over and talk to the Carmax folks and see if that is something they would entertain.

Thanks for the input.
