Default Exhaust Rattle

Doc - there is a noticable vibration rattle in the rear ofmy 2001 911 cabwhen I am at idle. An independant technician told me it was likely that a spot weld on a baffle in the muffler had come loose causing the rattle. He also said there was no rush to fix-it as should not have any negative implications for performance. Its just annoying. Have you run accross this problem and does his diagnosis sound reasonable?

Yes, i have had a few stock mufflers have the baffle come apart on the inside and will rattle. You can take a rubber mallet and hit the can, and if there is anything broken inside, you will hear the rattle. Not going to harm anything, but like you said, it is annoying. I would wait until you can't stand it anymore, then upgrade the mufflers.
