Default Expansion chamber?

We have a couple of 996's a 99 cabriolet and a 01 turbo. The cab is intermittenly leakinf radiator fluid now and then. Seem like it stops for a while until another adjustment have to be made. I was told it probally is an leaking expasion chamber. Is this common on the 996's, will I have to assume the same fate with the turbo? Is $1500 about the right price?

Yup, pretty common to leak in the NA cars. I have not seen it happen quite as much in the turbos for some reason. The tank is about $200-250 and just a couple of hours to replace it.

Oh, the expansion tank cap has been updated to a new cap, so you want to replace it at the same time. Supposidly the cap overpressurizes the tank and will cause it to crack.
