Default Hello and '03 996 Reliability Question

Hi folks, I am a first time poster and am seriously considering buying an '03 C4S. I really love the car but just got the new Consumer Reports today, and for reasons unknown to me, it totally disses the '03 911s.

I have had the car inspected at a local Porsche dealer and everything seems ok.

Can anyone here shed light on this? I know a few people who have '03s and they love them, but are there things to watch out for (besides the RMS) on the 2003 model year?

Thank you for any information on this, and hope to be a regular contributor soon.

I saw the same thing last year when I bought my 02. Consumer Reports is based on survey data so I'm sure there is some validity to their claim. Hopefully some 03 owners on the forum can shed some light on the issues. My 02 has been trouble free for the past year I've owned it.

I have a 03 C4S and I drive the living **** out of it, and to date with 30k miles, zero problems.
It has to be one of the more reliable toy's i've ever had. Buy the car, spend 2 grand on an extended warranty and drive it like you stole it, you'll thank use for it later.my.02

The car I'm looking at is under CPO warrantee until 12/08 - but I agree, all the extended are in the $4-5k range.

I haven't purchased an extended warranty yet. Still shopping around for price, company reliability etc. Trying to weigh the $4-5K price tag with the possible repairs within the next few years. I haven't had the RMS leak yet, but realize that "if" I do it will only cost about $1,500. Most of these extended warranty companies still have deductables, which would make the RMS repair only about $1K. It's all about cost versus risk.
This would be a good survey to see who bought the extended warranty and how much of it was actually used during the life of the warranty.

Damn,, Did'nt know we had to be to the dollar here ,,,,Bought the car at Foreign Cars Italia in Charlotte NC. 36/36 extended warranty with a fifty dollar deductable, cost me 2275.00 after Inegotioated with the buisness manager, his name was Russ Yelverton my Salesmans name was Dean Blanton theGeneral sales manager, now what else can I clear up for you! If you can't efford to PLAY don't PLAY An extended warranty is basicly an insurance policy that can be sold by the dealer for profit therefore the price is always negotioable, plus I have bought many cars from ForeignCarsItalia the owner Benny Yount is a good person and the entire staff is top notch, I guess over the last three years I average a car every three months or so that also helps when you have a working relationship with the dealership.

N2boatn--you got a good deal on your warranty. Not sure how many people on this forum don't care about cost. I can afford to play and I do play.
