I really need wisdom/advice with possibly buying an 80's 911
Hey all!
I've always loved 911's and how pure and simple they are. I've been thinking/looking around at some 911's to possibly buy. I'm almost 17 and just curious what people think about getting a used one (obviously not new, probably mid-late 80's)! I might be getting my dads old car, but I'm thinking about getting a 911 for maybe around like 12-18 grand (or under).
I'm not rich. I do have a pretty steady job, though. I'm wondering how realistic owning and caring for a Porsche is and what you guys think about working on it as well. Are they realistic to work on (I really want to learn about the 911's more and expand my knowledge of them, so I would love to work on one, is that realistic goal?). Is it realistic to learn about and fix general things that need attention? Or is each oil change going to cost a bunch of money and the whole car become a money pit. I'm homeschooled and have quite a bit of time on my hands, well, it depends, but I can if I need to.
I'd love any advice!
I really appreciate, guys!
Thanks so much,
Colin

Simply put, are 911's a realistic car to do repairs on yourself if you have the desire to? And are they (if purchased in a good condition) generally "bulletproof" like so many say?
Thanks
