Default Ignition issue?

The other day, I was backing my 01 996 Cab out of the drive. I managed to stall it (don't laugh). Anyway, when I tried to restart, the key would turn 360 degrees in the ignition cylinder with slight resistance at the point where the engine should have turned. I left the car in the street and came back after dinner and it started fine. I have had no problems since. Does this sound like an ignition problem or was the imobilizer doing something? Any help would be appreciated.

More than likely the ignition switch is failing. I have never seen a key turn 360 degrees before. Could have stripped out the small plastic ignition switch. It is about a $19 part. Takes small hands to replace.

I have a 2002 911targa and the ignition switch is locked up. I can not insert the key. I tried to use the spare key, it did not work either. Any idea and help is appreciated.

Make sure you do not order the part from autopartswharehouse.com. The ignition switch they send you does not fit 996. I spent forever getting my switch disconnected and it did not fit. Let me tell you how fun it is loosening the two little screws that hold it in place!!!! If you have big hands...forget about it.
