oil pressure running high
I just purchased a 2001 911 with 12,000 miles, runs super and the oil level is good with mobile synthetic. I drove the car for the first time and noticed the oil pressure runs at the top of the scale (5) when I am on the hywy at 70 mph/2700 rpm or so. Is this normal or a sign of a problem to come ?
Thanks

RE: oil pressure running high
Congratulations on your 2001 Porsche 911. My 1999 911 acts about the same as my 2007 base 911 does concerning oil pressure.
When the car is cold it will appear to peg the gauge at 5 psi. After 2-5 minutes it drops to 4 psi then by 20 mins3 1/2 psi. It does this at 70 mph or 50 mph. The only thing I find unusual tho not troubling is if the car sits for a week it takes twice as long to get the oil to 3-4 psi range.
Wish I could be more helpful about your "troubles to come question" and I could speculate but that is not really helpful,
Maybe Doc will cast a point of view.
Good luck to you and your new car!
