Default Questions on my 1977 Carrera Convertible

Yey, it's my birthday and I just bought myself the car I've wanted for 22 years :-) , a 911 Convertible. I had a 914 in 1986 or so.

Here it is.

I have a few questions that I'm not finding easy answers on a google search, so if there's any experts out there who would be kind enough to share their knowledge....

1. Where did this thing come from? I've read the convertible didn't come out until 1981 but was this just in the USA? The door tag says 3/77, and the top is original as far as I can tell (German instructions, etc.). It's also got a steel turbo-look widebody. It's got the Carrera tag on the engine lid and carpets. I think it's a Carrera 3 (3.0 engine) how can I tell (it has a 5 speed)? Is this a Euro version, a special order, an aftermarket body conversion? I would imagine if this is a 1977 Carrera 3 with widebody and convertible options it's probably pretty rare (at least in the US).

2. Where can I get an owner's manual and repair manual?

It runs great, but needs some misc. work, I only paid $8000 for it! What a score.

Thanks for any input.

I would say that someone took a 77 chasis, and did a slant nose cab conversion.

This link may help you a little:

DOC
I gotta agree definitely has a slant nose modification done but I'm not
even sure on the Convertable/Cabriolet? It almost looks llike someone
took a targa and converted into a convertable? Very different look to it.

I've just checked in one of my books and it states that the "slant nose" only became an option in 1986 & the "cabriolet" was only available from 1982 so your's must have been converted at some point.

It's a nice looking car though. Have you got any better quality pictures?

Thanks for the input.

That photo is from theprevious owner's listing on Craigslist. I'll post my own photo once I take some.
