Seriously considering 2000 911, need advice!
I have done the due diligence and found what I consider to be an exceptional 2000 911. The price is right and I honestly think the dealership is just trying to get it off their lot. I went over the car with a fine tooth comb and took it for a test drive and it felt better than any brand new vehicle I have ever owned, and I have historically been a BMW guy.
Is the decision as simple as, "Can you afford it," or are there some things to keep in mind? This vehicle would replace my current daily driver and I live in the midwest so I know I would need a set of winter tires. Why own it if you aren't going to drive it, right? Any old way... this vehicle has 75k miles on it and is in absolutely pristine condition. Is there any reason I shouldn't go ahead and buy it?

I have a different perspective. It's not a super car, just a car. A nice one - I liked the 996 I owned for nearly four years. Bottom line: Porsches are better than average cars, mostly because they cost a lot more and so can combine engineering, design, and good materials off far above average standard. But its still just a car -- someday it will be in a recycling yard and go to the crusher like all the others (I'm not being a snob here, the same fate awaits my F430).
So buy it expecting it to give satisfaction to a very high standard if you keep it in really good shape -- but don't revere it as anything special or expect it to be dramatically, worlds-apart from the performance of other cars.
And like all cars, it is prone to the same diseases and problems as other cars. so make very sure it is in good shape before you buy it. It could have been neglected or abused, so check that out carefully and don't trust anything to luck.
