Default Why so much $$$ for a used 911?

So a friend says he's willing to part with is 83' 911 for 15k. I'm looking at prices, and a mid 80's 911 and a mid 90's BMW M, both with similar milage, have similar prices. Why are the 911's retaining their value so well?

According to JD Power & Associates, it is the ongoing demand that keeps Porsche's value high. I saw an article on Car an Driver Magazine, the Porsche crowd is more selective than any others. That might have a major impact on its value. Article made sense because recently I saw and advertisement about Subaru Impreza. They are saying it has more power than Porsche, Toyota, etc. However, if you look at it, Hyundai, Subaru, and Mitsubishi have the worst depreciation. When a person buys a Porsche, he/she buys it for a reason: either it is a long lived dream or a social status. Whatever the reson might be, it will always top the reasons of a person who is looking to buy a Subaru, Mitsubishi, Mazda, etc.

ciao,

Alex.

Because you are looking at a real sports car. Also the SC's are a very reliable car but for 15K that car must be in very good shape mechanically and cosmetically. If you buy, get a PPI before the purchase.
