RE: all 928 owners please chime in.
The 928 is a very expensive car to maintain. Labor rates (hours it takes to do a job) are very high on these cars due to their design. They are good cars if you can find a nice example of a well taken car, but you can bury yourself very quickly if you are not careful.

I am considering buying a 928 to be driven daily. And would like to know what common problems this car has? Also what kind of maintanance cost am I looking at?I would do the labor myself.

Parts for the 928 made a significant drop in the early 90's.
Contrary to another post, mine does like to be DRIVEN hard, but with out abuse, and it is still as solid as a bank vault!!

RE: all 928 owners please chime in.
I have an '89 5-speed, and it has treated me well -- I love it. I would not buy one unless I could at least say the following:
- I love 928s and must have one (this is critical)
- I have a trusted, competent, and affordable mechanic (928 expertise *can* be acquired)
- The 928 I'm looking at has factory wiring (no hack alarms or irreversible stereo surgeryin that mile of wiring)
- The 928 I'm looking at has had documented, timely, and correct repair work (especially the timing belt)
- I understand that I am not buying a new car, and know that even a Camry would also likely need significant work if it were 11 to 28 years old, driven or not
- I can budget at least $2K per year for maintenance/upgrades without crying (you could spend less if you're smart)
- I have another car I can drive in bad weather (928 spoilers are low & vulnerable)
- The rest of the 928 I'm looking at checks out (rust/accident repairs/salvage title/odometer/etc.)
I agree with Phoenix44 -- 928s are solid cars that are built to last, if you're up for it.

Porsche 928 GEMBALLA any real ones left ?
I have a 1984 Porsche 928 Gemballa Wide Body
This kit was produced in the 80's and at the time it was worth over $18,000.00 just for the body panels.
Is there anyone out there that still has one as I would like to network with those owners of Gemballa 928's
Mine sports BBS Gold Spoke wheels with 330-30-17 Tires
I am redoing the suspension and paint so here are some pics of the process if I am allowed to post since i just joined this site today.
