84 944 stutter/misfire
Hi all,
Hope you can help me with this.
my 944 84 n/a has this stutter at 3500-4000 rpm but only when its cold.
as soon as the car is warm it runs great. it realy is not a big deal but it iritates the hell out of me.
i have replaced coil, distributor cap, rotor, ignition wires, spark plugs, all the filters and oil.
i read somewhere that maybe I should resolder my DME ,so i have done that. And i have tested AFM as per Clarks-Garage
I have ordered dme II temp sensor from the US(I live in south africa and parts here are 5 times the price) as a was told that can be the
problem.
any other Ideas?
this is my first post so please, easy on the new guy.....

I think you are on the right track with the DME temp sensor. Typically when that fails, cold running is affected.
I would also look at replacing your TPS as well, it can cause the same symptoms.

The AFM can do the same thing, as the magnetic contact strip wears out. You can pop the black squarish cap off the top of the AFM, and look at the armature and magnetic strip. The arm may need to be bent slightly so it makes contact with a new section)
