Default 86 944 clutch replacement

I've recently purchased an 86 944 it looks and runs great but it appears that the clutch is broken in the enguaged position. It will start but put it in gear and let the clutch out and nothing. Is it easier to just pull the motor to change the clutch, the engineering of this drive shaft hook up has me baffled. I bought a haynes book on it, probably after I start tearing it apart it will seem easier but from the looks of it not much can be defined as easy with these.. Thanks for any help or advise.

No, leave the motor in and do it from the rear. Go to the garage shop manual at www.clarks-garage.com, his clutch write up is excellent....step by step will walk you through the job. Not a difficult job, but sucks laying on your back for 16 hours. It really helps to have an extra hand to toss tools at you when you are under the car.
