'93 944 - Should I buy?
1983, not 93. Shows how young I am...
I have never owned a Porsche, but I joined the forum to get info about purchasing my first. I am a student and don't have a ton of money to spend on a car, and I read online that a 944 is a good inexpensive Porsche to buy. I found a near mint, 26k miles, 1983 944 for sale in my town. I have done a bit of research on the 944 and found that the 1983 had no power steering. I have never driven a car without power steering, so I don't know if that is an issue or not. Also, I read that the best 944's were made after 1985. Opinions? Suggestions? Link to the Porsche I'm looking at is below:

That sure looks nice...but classic cars, including Porsche can quickly turn into money pits. I'd suggest that unless you like getting your hands dirty, leave the classic Porsches alone until you leave university.
Get a modern sports car instead....and one day buy that classic you dream about.
