Default 944 engine sound

Hi,

I have an 86 944 na, automatic. There is a rattling sound coming from the rear of the engine when at idle sometimes or when you have it in gear at a light, not moving, the minute you give it some throttle it goes away, its not anthing on the exhust. Any idea?
Thanks

Eddie

I would check all your heatshields, sounds like one is loose.

hi,

Put it up on the lift, sounds like its coming from the center shaft, only when at idle and in gear (its automatic). The minute you take it out of gear or you give a little throttle the sound goes away. It sounds like a rattle/vibration noise. Anyone have a suggestion?

I had this same problem and it was the automatic rubber dampner plate.

what to do??? It just happened out of no where. I wont be doing it myself and it sounds like an expensive job. I will have to give this some thought.

is this something that can cause damage if left for a little while? Its a daily driver or every couple of days but not for more than a couple of miles max.

No, it will probably just completely fall apart eventually and leave you stranded.
