Lower Rad Hose vs. Power Steering Pump
I knew I'd have to replace my hoses eventually. Some are pretty squishy.
I was going to replace the belt on my power steering pump and noticed a problem. The lower rad hose contacts the power steering pulley and has made a gash in the hose, not all the way through yet. Quite a surprise though.
Obviously replacing the hoses is a high priority now, but why would there be contact in the first place and how can I fix it?

Make sure your radiator is sitting mounted correctly. If it is, then when you put on the new hose, if it is close, trim the lower end so it pulls it away from the belt.

RE: Lower Rad Hose vs. Power Steering Pump
I just replaced the same hose because, I put took out my radiator and when I reinstalled it I did'nt tighten the hose clamp all of the way and it came lose and came in contact with the pump. I know that trying to fix the hose is not an option, the pressure coming out of the thermostat will blow right through the hole in the hose. The only thing to do is replace the hose.
