My leaky/hot/cold 944S2
Hi all. Well I cured the leak at the front (new windscreen), then I cured the leak at the rear (new seals) and now I have a leak in the middle (sort of).
However, a more pressing problem with the advent of winter is my heater. It comes on and off when it feels like it (usually on on a mild day and off...you guessed it!) The boost switch for the fan doesn't work most of the time but does sometimes so I guess it may be related.
Sadly, my mechanical knowledge is comparable with your average garden snail so I don't always understand the answers. (I have other talents he said modestly).
My local garage man who's a good basic mechanic but doesn't understand the finer points of Porches, doesn't seem to have a clue.
Any suggestions would be appreciated and I'll pass them on to my mechanic as I doubt I'll be able to sort it myself. (Tell me I'm wrong, tell me it's easy...)
Thanks in advance,
John

RE: My leaky/hot/cold 944S2
For the heat issue, first i would check the vacuum lines at the firewall behind the engine. They can just barely be seen from the passenger rear side of the engine, with a flashlight. There should be 2 large coolant hoses, and 2 small vacuum lines with 90 degree rubber ends attached at the firewall. Also follow the 1 vacuum line behind the motor to the heater control valve and make sure it is plugged in on that end as well. If that is ok, then underneath the dash, there is a plastic clip on the heater control unit that likes to break. If that is broken, you will get variable heat as well.
