Reference Sensors won't let go....
Both of the reference sensors in my '83 are massively stuck. And I mean stuck! A friend and I tugged (an rotated simultaneously) with vise grips, pliers, the claw end of a hammer, a screw driver, as well as a bunch of other various pushing and pulling tools for over 4 hours to only get 1/4 of an inch out. I did apply a bit of "break Free" every so often which did help, but it seems that we can’t get enough leverage between the sensor and the clutch housing to break it free. I mean damn!! Are there any tricks any of you have found to help get these loose? Tools? Etc? Aside from removing the whole clutch (which may be my next course of action/war.)

RE: Reference Sensors won't let go....
I'm guessing you will need to remove the bracket that is holding them. The ends of the sensors gunk up pretty good over time, and unless you clean the ends, you probably won't get them out. There's a real good chance that the bracket will be next to impossible to get to as well, depending on who has worked on the car in teh past. If you are having difficulty getting the bracket out, I wouldn't waste too much time on it. The brackets are made of pretty soft aluminum and will break off easily with a sharp blow from a hammer and chisel, and are around $20 to replace. It sounds like the caveman approach but its the best way to handle it, trust me.

RE: Reference Sensors won't let go....
Well...... I got the BACK one out on the 1st shot! But since the clutch is in such poor condition as is, instead of tempting fate I am just going to have to replace it anyway.
Thanx for all you guys help!
I more thing:
I am understanding that the 968 tranny will fit the 944, but will the clutch?
Reason I ask, one was brought to my attention a cuple of days ago at a very nice price and in good condition.
If it will fit are there any fly-wheel requirements? I want to keep the uber-light FW I bought last summer.
