Hey I have had a spare tire for a while but never had the bolt to put it in. I ordered the bolt cause I did not want to go without a spare tire any longer. Anyway I physically got as much air out of the tire as possible but it still won't fit. The tire fits fine in the compartment its just sitting up to high and interfering with the rear carpeting making it sit up too high and won't allow the buttons to fasten. I thought about getting a ratcheting strap and cranking down on the tire to get more air out but I don't want to damage it, etc. Any suggestions?

What year is your car? Are you using the OEM compact spare on the special steel rim? (A full size tire won't fit in the spare tire storage compartment under the rear deck.)

 

I have an 88 944 2.7 and yes I am using the compact spare, not sure if its OEM or not, but its the right tire/rim, just for whatever reason it won't fit.
