Yes, the sensor on the late cars is mounted on the transmission. I have seen them break internally, causing the speedo to not work.

Black round sensor on the drivers side of the transaxle near the front. Has a 2 pin plastic connector on it.

The only other electrical connector on the transaxle is the back up light wires which are on the passenger side.

Is this the 2 pin sensor on the axle?, Is there anyway to test the sensor and the speedo to determine the problem?

If you pull the unit out of the transaxle, you will be able to tell if it is broken. IIRC there is a cable inside that will strip IIRC. It has been awhile since I have been in there. I can pull apart one of my spare trannys and take a picture.

Okay have just tested the sensor by running a 12v + & - to the sensor and then connecting a bulb negativeconnection to the middle connection on the sensor. When i turn the cog it flashers indicating its working. I have also checked the positive and negative on the car. This works fine. Can anyone advise where the sensor wire goes to on the clock? What colour is the wire?

Regards Lee
