Angry 75K and White Smoke 02 Boxster

Advise needed. On my way back from Cape Cod I became stuck in stop and go traffic and after about an hour I notice my 02 Boster was smokeing. Made it off the next exit and had it towed to a Porsche shop in Hartford. There i got the news that it maybe the engine. They were able to starte it and it ran with no noise at all, just alot of white smoke. Any ideas would be great.

Thanks,
RJ

Definitely change your oil air seperator first. It is less than 150 bucks, and is a common cause of white smoking out the exhaust (and this is most often misdiagnosed as a blown motor)

Thanks for the quick reply. While I was at the shop, from what I understand they disconnected the air/oil seperator and the car was still smoking but only after running for about 2-3 minutes (again no noise). They machanic said it may take a while to clear up. I was told that they would take the seperator off and check it. But I also gave them the ok to look further which involves dropping the engine.

They seems very helpful, the shop is Musante motorsport.

Thanks,
RJ,

Any news? The guys at Chris's shop are pretty good, so I think you are in good hands.

Sorry for the delay. Yes the guys at the shop were great. I left an open invite to buy them lunch. It appears it was the AOS. I picked up the car on Friday 6/18. It seems fine, but I must admit I'm a little "gun shy". I kept looking in the mirror thinking I was going to see "white smoke". I drove this weekend just to change the oil so I can send it out to be analized. If the results are good maybe I'll feel a little better. The Boster days may be numbered if I don't trust it.

Thanks
